The software is good. There were a few items that had to be input by hand and even the forms option did not allow for this to be a smooth and easy task. Also, it would be great if the business return software and the premium software had the option to transfer data between the two. This would save input of items from the business return to the personal return.
Let me start by saying I have been preparing my s-corp taxes for several years now with TT. The cost of TT is just getting stupid high, so I switched to H&R.
The user interface needs work. It needs to be a lot cleaner. It's more difficult to use than TT. It's not the most user friendly software. I also don't like that when you choose not to do a balance sheet for the 1120s that it still enters in numbers and makes things out of balance forcing you to either do the balance sheet or download the form outside of H&R to make a blank one. The errors are sometimes confusing and hard to figure out. I felt like I needed to be an accountant to understand the issues I was having. I didn't have this much trouble with TT in previous years.
Also, on their website it says you can upload your previous year from TT, but that only applies to personal not business. It doesn't say that anywhere and it took 3 different support people before someone knew the answer.
The difference in price is the only thing it has going for it but I feel like you need a better accounting background to use this program.

Servers went down the night before and the morning of tax day. No statement, no apology, no refund. Also the instructions for self employment taxes were really lacking.
I bought a copy of their business software, thinking that's what I needed if I had a 1099 business. Total waste of money I then bought the premium Federal + State software, which is what I needed. Instructions for Schedule C were weak. When April 15 filing day came around, I received error messages that Block's servers were down, suggesting they were being maintained. After a dozen attempts, I was able to e-file my returns on April 15. Block "verified" my debit card every time I made a failed attempt to file.The duplicate charges didn't drop off for 48 hours.
