I have used H&R Block tax software for many years. With a small business, I relied on the proper questions to make sure I included all my deductions and expenses. With the ability to keep tax information prior years avaliable on a device allowed import certain info that facilitated completing the new tax year sucessfully.

I have used the H&R Block tax preparation software for the past five years. The products improve every year. I am thankful for the easy to follow steps that make it possible for me to complete my tax returns in a timely manner.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

Cumbersome,software errors, same issues every year

I had continued to use HR Block software for continuity despite recurring issues year to year. Next year I'll try something else. This year a new issue: IRS repeatedly rejected my return and gave a rejection code. HR Block gave no definition of the code and only suggested that I review the entire return and re-submit. HR Block gave no specific advice as to what the issue was or how to fix it. Turns out it was HR Block software error. (when HR Block figures underpayment penalty, the total tax and total tax payments are figured incorrectly.) 4 attempts later I changed it to have IRS figure the penalty and it was accepted. (I can't wait to see what the IRS does with that.) It's a shame when I get better assistance from the IRS than HR Block. Cost me extra to file extension (and hours on the phone with IRS) to find a workaround for HR Blocks software error. (For the record, my main complaint with HR Block is that the available help is wholly inadequate and outdated, they should revamp the entire help system to something that actually helps.) I've had enough. It's the 21st century... there must be some 21st century tax software out there.

Business portion useless

The personal portion is fine. The business portion is useless. Better off not even using it.
One suggestion on the personal. It would be helpful to warn that only five returns can be filed electronically per copy of software. Why even have the option to pay for filing a federal return if the program comes with 5 electronic filings. I paid to file some family member returns because I knew I only had 5 included in the price of the software. But come to find out when I tried to file the 6th it did not allow me. So I paid for filings I did not need to and did not get to use all of my free ones. As well as last minute I had to buy another version of the software and find another computer to install it on to file the return before the deadline. Completely stupid.
Also - really need to have a Mac compatible version. It is 2020.

OK Federal personal product. Good for trusts. Weak on NJ-no interview, no e-file
