I have used H & R Block software for over 10 years. I tried working with the program this year for over 2 weeks, but it was constantly glitching (#s changing, errors showing but nothing highlighted and sometimes the form not even shown ie there is an X error on the form below, but no form). I spoke with 3 support people about the software issue until the 3rd let me download the program again with a new code. Still having problems, I ended up purchasing TurboTax which helped me figure out some of the errors with the taxes/program, but still had to send it with several warnings I could not find. Not sure I will use H & R in the future.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this because it’s a lot cheaper than TurboTax and I could transfer my tax from TurboTax. It was easy to use and straightforward but the only thing I didn’t like was at the end during the final check, I would get these verifications that made me uneasy about if I did something wrong. I wish the app do a better job at explaining the verification steps on the form. I had to go through 530 verification on my capital gains stock transactions, there should have been a process to check all similar transactions.
Pros: Easy to import documents, Fast

The software did not handle QCDs correctly. I had to do it myself. More and more people with IRAs are using QCDs to make charitable donations. Fix it! It's your job. I had some problems with the checks at the end for data verification or other issues.

I found this much easier to use than Turbo Tax, particularly with listing my hurricane damage. I miss being able to name different bank accounts, tho.

Been using for many years. Has always worked well. But this year there was problems with listing foreign taxes paid. I had two items to list but the amounts would not appear where they should. It took some time to sort out the mistakes that was causing the problem. I got ot all to work at last and the efile pass all the error tests and was accepted by the fed. Still a very fine program to use. I will be using it again next year.

Cons: Time consuming

I bought your downloadable product “in advance” this year when it was released to pre-do my taxes. Wanted to get a head up as out situation had changed. It was so unstable that it neither saved my taxes ( I had to reenter my details almost every time ) nor opened when prompted. It shut down with a fatal error 9 out of 10 times I tried to load it, Over several months. It updated monthly, and never loaded well after an update. I’ve used HRB for years, but always online. Needless to say, I will never use their software services again. And this was almost enough to sour me on HRB entirely. Let’s see next year if I dare come back. Sorry guys. That was awful.
