I’ve used HR Block software for probably 20 years. I hate doing my taxes but it makes the process so much easier especially the second year when it saves all your info from the previous year so it saves you time.

The program is great as long as you have no odd arrangement. I prepare a return and would like to attach a statement to the return to be e-filed. As long as no attachment can be made, the return then has to be filed through the mail.
Also, when there is missing information that is highlighted when the review is made, the program does not take you to that input area.

One year when I bought Premium I got Delux instead and had to pay extra to upgrade since I couldn’t reach anyone to help.
A year ago all of my tax returns for the past 5 years simply disappeared and no one could help find them.
This year I couldn’t get the free state program and had to call for help which I got. And I couldn’t automatically do the updates. Had to pay someone to update the operating system on my computer as the new programs don’t run well or at all on old computers.
I have been able to successfully e file my returns.
I bought the Turbo Tax program this year when the HR Block was not doing well and compared the two returns. Turbo Tax did some things automatically like deducting contributions over 50% for the California return.
But I ended up filing with HR Block because of free federal filing, and I am familiar with it and expect to use it in the future.
