I have been using H&R Block tax software for more than 10 years so it is my lazy go-to. Generally easy and intuitive to use, after the first time. The price increases predictably from year to year; take advantage of offers, which will get you some discount. But still too expensive.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This years program made a mistake on state return.

I have used the H&R block software for years, and have always been happy with it, but the 2023 program leaves a lot to be desired.
I very carefully completed both federal and state returns, and e-filed both online.
The program said everything looked good, and that both were correct, and had low audit risk.
A couple months later, I got a letter from the Maine State Bureau of taxation, along with a check for a refund which was quite a bit more than what I was expecting.
They said that I had made a mistake on my return, and that I was eligible for a deduction that I hadn't claimed.
They went ahead and fixed the mistake, and gave me the amount I should have gotten, which was quite a bit more.
I was happily surprised by that of course, but also felt more than a little burned by the program letting me down.
And yes, I did update the program when I bought it, and again just before doing the e-file.
The 2023 program didn't meet accuracy expectations, and thus deserves the two star rating I gave it.
Previous years of this program have been better (as far as I know), so I'm hoping that the 2024 version addresses the issue with the Maine State return. If not, then unfortunately I may have to look into other options
