I have used the software for the last five years. I still like the software for its ease of use. I had a lot of trouble e-filing this year with multiple attempts not going through. The software never did show that it went through but I received confirmation from the IRS that they received and accepted the filing.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast

Is decent for basic filers. If you have more exotic returns, it does a poor job of "helping" you. It is built around the questionnaire so if you have something NOT covered by the questionnaire, it is VERY difficult to navigate and find what you need or even fill out the form you need. When finding an error in the software, they don't seem to care and just make excuses....IF you can get through to someone. Maybe it will be fixed in "the next update". I bought the most expensive version since I had a more than basic return. I expected it to handle my situation much better than it did.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

I used the software several years. Great for federal taxes and state taxes, except when not full year resident in the State. Could not handle it for DC. This year, we got issue when we tried to file online. The software told us it didn't go through when it did. So, it brings confusion as I didn't know if the filing was accepted.

I filed my 2023 federal and Missouri returns electronically on April 15. 2024, using HR Block software. I owed MO tax and funds were pulled from my bank electronically. But I have not yet received my federal tax refund. It is overdue. What is problem?
