I used this software and completed multiple states. I was disappointed with how the information translated over to the state schedules and how much work I had to do to re-enter information. I think the input for K-1 information and rental activities should allow you to enter in state allocations so that information automatically flows to the states. Additionally, the fees to purchase each state is very high given the lack of quality found in the programming.
I have been using H&R Block tax programs for years. My only complaint happened this year. We always do an extension and file October. Don't know whose end had the problem, H&R Block or the IRS efile program, but we could not efile our return. We had to certify mail it.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund
One of the most difficult forms that everyone (unless you're over 65 and on Medicare) has to complete is 8962 Premium Tax Credit. This is one that a good tax program should certainly take care of. Instead I had to plow through IRS Pub 74 and other obscure IRS instructions, and even then, after the program said my return passed muster, the IRS immediately rejected it for errors on form 8962. The ACA had been in effect for a couple of years. I would have expected H&R Block to have tackled this form by now to make life easier for 90% of taxpayers.
Has been good for my taxes for years. This year was the first year I filed an extension. Up until that point it worked well, but it was very confusing to then go back in and enter the K1 I was waiting for. I ended up printing out and mailing it in for the first time in years.
