The H&R Block tax ware is not easy to work with for someone new to the Tax code because the worksheet forms don't look anything like the IRS forms. If you know what you're doing it's fine.
Pros: Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
Cons: Hard to prepare

I would like to see some clarity provided to some of the instructions. For instance where IRA contributions are being made to either Roth or Traditional, there should be an easy avenue to specify that all of the contributions are after taxes with no deduction wanted/taken. Recharacterizing after the fact when values of the contributions have changed based on investment gains/losses (losses in particular) of Roth contributions confuse the issue and it is not intuitively obvious after entering the 1099 info that there is no impact to taxes which there should not be.

I’ve been using H&R Block tax software for many years, mainly because they had a version that supported Trust returns. For the last few years I’ve been running the Macintosh version since I no longer have a trust to worry about. The software seems to work fine but I find it confusing when dealing with Required Minimum Distributions.

I’ve been using this software as far back as the TaxCut name. The H R Block connection made this more appealing. Last year I had a new and complicated addition to my annual tax return. An appointment with a local office and a competent accountant was sooo helpful and very much appreciated. This year had a couple more changes. The ease to return to sections with possible errors made for an easier completion of our tax return.

This version did not allow me to e-file my return using information from the prior year. I had to mail it in which was a tremendous pain. Especially due to the fact I had a schedule C and two rental properties so the packet was humongous. Disappointed this year
