One upgrades to Premium for Investments and Self-Employment, but every year it misses out on items related to my simple versions of each, requiring me to work directly with forms rather than just the interview. For example, my state forms deal with real-estate investment partnerships in an IRA with a simple tick box, but impossible in H&R’s Federal. A few hundred Business miles spawn intricate and unnecessary car depreciation. Planning does not help generate a new W-4 / withholdings based on current or current plus prior years to save penalties, nor proposes personalized contribution values/comparisons for Traditional vs. Roth IRAs, even with years of H&R software use/data. Search and form access, use and editing remain kludgey.
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have been using the software for years and your office for years before that. This year since you make it so easy for FAKES to send you tax information without Identifying the individual with a photo ID someone filed a FAKE return using my SS# earlier that I did. Lucky for me it was an outrageous return and was set to be reviewed when I sent in mine using your software. Mine was rejected both by Fed and State and now I will suffer a 2/3 MONTH delay in getting my refund. JUST BECAUSE YOU MAKE IT EASY FOR SCAMMERS WITH OUT PROOF OF ID. Yes it took hours of work for me to so mine and I have to wait because of your lack of proving/verifying ID. You should refund me my payment and give me the next 10 years free because of your lack of due diligence.
