Long time user - over 2 decades. Mostly great experience, though I had one this year that drove me up a wall. When importing from my investments, I copy the Document ID text from the pdf and paste it into the software. The financial institution put spaces in the text, to make it easier to read. HOWEVER, the tax software imposes a field limit equal to the characters without the spaces (Document ID has 11 characters and two spaces in the pdf). This field should be larger to allow the spaces to be in the entry field and the software can strip the spaces before it transmits them to do the import. Making me hand copy the characters means I could get the errors in the copy. Letting me copy the text directly means I won't get the characters wrong - even though the software doesn't like the spaces.
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Hard to import documents

Product would not let me file electronical on 4/15

I have used HR BLOCK for many years to file my taxes. This year, for the first time, I was not able to file electronically on April 15th, despite countless attempts over a period of many hours. I ended up printing everything out and taking to Post Office - what a hassle! VERY DISAPPOINTED!
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My experience was riddled with errors and delays

I have used H&R block's PC software for years, I honestly do think the software is laid out better than others I have tried. However, this year I was unable to successfully submit my taxes this year due to continual errors in the submittal process. Before that, I had to wait for an extra 4-5 weeks for the EV return portion of the return to be completed by H&R, and then I received at least 4 rejected returns from the IRS due to some error in the code being sent to the IRS. I did not enjoy using the turbo tax software as much, but it did submit to the IRS on the first try without issue.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
