I completed the return but did not file until the last day. The system was not working, so I used a free system on the irs website to file an extension. I was able to file my return the nex day.
Cons: Time consuming

I have used this program for decades and have been satisfied. This year I could not e-file. Their site said they were having computer problems. My taxes were not the problem since they were the same as last year's, which was e-filed, but with 2023 numbers. I will use this program next year again and hope they have corrected the computer connection problem.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming

This came as a download/prepaid, Surprise! I went ahead and let the purchase happen. I was going to need the software anyway. I had problems this year with the software and my health insurance. It was rejecting my return telling me I needed the form which was in the information. So upset this year I just printed everything and mailed it.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

Had glitches in 1 section where it would not calculate the gain/loss for investment property. Chat support suggestions to save and restart the software, update, and perform an accuracy check did not solve the problem. Deleting the forms for that section and re-entering the information again did not solve the problem. Starting a new, test investment property entry did seem to pull in gains/losses calculations but could not naturally be kept/used.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Sufficed for filing my taxes but I don't think they've improved a single thing about this software in the last 8 years; they're just repackaging it every year to sell again. Also, my partner encountered significant issues with e-filing his taxes close to the tax deadline, and it turned out HR Block e-filing was just completely unavailable for 12 hours due to a maintenance issue on their part. Don't rely on it close to the deadline.

I have a relatively simple return, single W2, earning nonresident income from 2 other states, including rental and K-1. The software gets tells me stuff like 'go to the forms list and then click on this form' which could easily be an internal link to the form in question. Then when I get to the form in question it tells me that it has been automatically filled in, and I should go to the 'interview' if I want to modify it, otherwise I can no longer e-file. Needless to say, there is no way in the 'interview' to actually get the form correctly filled in. Basically, once you get to anything mildly complicated, like limiting deductions based on AMT or the like, you need to go and manually calculate and fill in multiple extra forms, which is exactly why you want tax software in the first place. In previous years this seemed to work, so hopefully it will be improved in future, otherwise I will have to back to the 'other' software package, which is now ridiculously overpriced (but might be worth it if I can actually use it)
