It is outrageous that the IRS has not yet implemented a direct filing service. Every other peer nation to the US has free direct filing! Should be coming to the US soon, and I cannot wait to see "services" like H&R block and TurboTax wither and die.
For what it's worth, this product sucks too. As much as I hate to say it (because Intuit is way more responsible for the lobbying that has entrenched us in PAYING to do our taxes) TurboTax is a far superior product.
I have used H&R software for my personal taxes for years. I started a new business this past year and needed the business plan. It was very easy to navigate
This year the only way to save a pdf is if PDF995 is downloaded and installed as printer., despite printing with adobe pdf for years or microsoft pdf. Printing a return with accompanying documents would not include documents needed to file, would have to manually print federal documents for a state return. Local returns a complete afterthought.
I didn’t like the fact that I was charged for electronic submission when the tax return was past the date of submitting electronically. I also was charged for electronic submittal even though the IRS rejected the return. There is also a problem with the free electronic filing. I only got 3 free instead of 5.
I loved the new features, like being able to parse PDFs. It saved me quite a bit of time. This year it looked streamlined and easier to use. Great job, programmers!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
