I've used Deluxe for many years but, because of a second rental house, I thought I'd try Premium. I can't tell the difference. Plus, it was extremely awkward handling the conversion of a secondary residence back to a rental. Last but maybe least, the program doesn't seem to handle Delaware state taxes very well. I'm consistently getting corrections from Delaware--although I'll admit I'm not sure who is right.

Why is it that every year at tax season, one must purchase a new HR Block software installation in order to do taxes? Why don’t you offer an update to the previous tax year version, just like you provide updates to the purchased version currently being used, as tax updates are issued by the IRS? Then, maybe you could reduce the price of the software, which goes up practically every year. I’m sure it could be done because I worked in software development for 30 years and the only time a brand new release was offered is when major changes to requirements were implemented. Other times, for relatively small changes, just a patch was issued to the field. I don’t see why you need to offer a whole new full price release every year. Why not just update the latest version with a patch to update due to new tax law changes? And, I know you do your yearly software updates starting with the previous version. Why waste the current version from previous version already purchased? Just update it with a patch. Apple doesn’t issue a whole new operating system each time it needs to update its software. They just send out patches. But, I know this is a profit driven, capitalistic economy and HR Block would never make a change. Just my thoughts. 😊
I order early and tensd to get working on my taxes ASAP. Have used the product for several years and have had no issues in filing.

Have been using for 4 years now. Seems like every year l have some problem with the software. Usually regarding updates. Updates from within the program don’t work. I needed to download it from the website and run it. You’d think support would have a script for that. Not in my case they just ended the text conversation. I all fairness last year they did help me solve a printing problem.
I the spouse Charla on auto pay to renew HR Block software annually. Pay for state with software never receive. I have to pay again when we file. My name is on the return it shouldn't matter whose name is first. I have always been the breadwinner and I also am in retirement. Other than never receiving my free state return the software is outstanding and very easy to understand.
