Product failed E-File - pathetic

Unreal. Your tax software couldn't file my taxes. What a disaster. Last time ever.

I purchased the program every year It has always worked well for me
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

Still needs work

It took over 20 attempts to actually submit my e-file in Premium + E-file + State. I received the emails stating 1) my file was submitted and 2) that the IRS had accepted it. When I tried to make payment, I followed the instructions ... but the software doesn't match the instructions. Pretty poor QA. Clicking File > Check Status AND clicking E-File Status at the top right took me to the "E-File your Return" screen but it had NO method to pay the due tax. VERY POOR QA. The "Welcome" screen showed "Not Filed" as the status and there was no "Check Status" button as the software stated. Closing and reopening the program did NOT change anything. And, NO, I did NOT open a copy of the file I submitted. I hope your phone support is better than the software instructions on how I can pay the tax due. As the software is now, I will NOT recommend it.

E-file issues

Got error saying “bad gateway”. Tried 3-4 times same error. So went and did something else for a while . Noticed I had emails saying federal submitted, state submitted, and federal accepted. But when I go back to the HRB software, even if I reload or re-open the return it shows and not submitted and won’t let me use the file status check screen…

The software is fine for basic tax returns, but the interview questions and guidance for more involved and advanced Federal tax requirements need improvement.
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare

We’ve been using H&R Block software to do our taxes for many years and always been happy with the results. We have always had a couple of self employment businesses to include and the software has never let us down.
Good program overall but needs little improvements in the interface: 1099-MISC entries didn't show on its summary of 1099-MISC (wasn't fixed from previous year), Switching between questionnaire to forms mode and back not intuitive. Import feature for financial statements didn't list my funds/accounts. Detail lists for an entry not intuitive. Tentative markings and changing on the forms a bit tricky. Looking forward to free IRS version of Premium and Deluxe as there's no reason to be paying each year for the same thing.

the software is fairly simple to use and the carryover of prior information is nice. There were some changes this year that surprised me in the tax code.
