Actually, my father uses HR Block SW every year for 30+ years. Was TAXCUT. Only issues stem from any need to report K1 results. Otherwise SW is user friendly. Years of experience do not hurt.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
I would recommend this to a friend!

GOOD FEATURES, but form 8888 needs work

As mentioned in another comment, form 8888 needs work. I spent hours between last night and today trying to format I-Bonds and cash refunds to my checking and my wife's checking. I finally gave up and used just my checking. All of your cross checks were totally confusing. When I would try bonds and both of our checking accounts, the total would exceed the amount of the refund. Something is absurdly wrong on your code for what should be a simple task that I could do on paper in 4 minutes.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
The software did the job, but it makes the user do too much work. For example, having compared using itemized deductions with taking the standard deduction, and finding the standard deduction to be better, the program directed me to move one entry to a different line. Why couldn't it have done that for me? Also, why isn't there a one-click method for reopening an itemized list attached to a given entry?
Hands down the best tax software. I’ve been using it for years. You also learn as you fill out the forms which helps you understand how you’re taxed and how to save for the following year.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
Import feature this year was having issues and resulted in a lot of manual entry for last year's tax returns. Happened twice for two different returns, but wasn't a problem in the past. Was supposed to be easy like the past years, but this year was more tedious to use the software. Not sure if we'll use this next year
