I have used Block for ten years. Its interview is well written, easy to follow, and helpfully contains suggested answers. Its links to assistance with IRS instructions and software assistance are free and easy. Its understanding of the tax code and regulations is obvious. It makes creating itemized lists or accountings simple. Its cost is low. If it would only handle all of Form K-1 -- I hate reading that this or that is beyond the scope of the app -- it would be perfect.

Liked the way it down loaded my E Jones info. don't have much of a return anymore at our ages. Don' want to go to a tax preparer. Was one myself back in tax seasons 1968 &69, my times have changed.

Good tax preparation system but overpriced for gig

Overall, this product is decent. I wouldn't want to file taxes without it. Just a couple of gripes:
1. It shouldn't require using the "premium" version to be able to file a 1099, such as for a gig worker. These people are often the lowest-earning people in our society, we shouldn't be gouging them just to file their taxes.
2. The forms for filling out HSA (high deductible insurance plans) were very confusing.

I have been using H & R block for the last decade or more; It is very interactive and even for a novice, easy to navigate and understand and file the tax return. I will continue to use it in future as well.
