Have used H&R Block software for years. So easy to do my taxes with it. Save money and maintain control at the same time. I trust the software. Love this product.
Was very good at walking me through for my contract job and my wife's two self employed jobs. I also needed to file a tax return for a deceased family member as their heir. Handled that easily.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
I would recommend this to a friend!

Found at least four SERIOUS bugs

from Philadelphia
1. Import of 1099-DIV puts wrong amount into State tax. Double-check your Schedule A.
2. After you’re done the Accuracy Review, H&R Block has added work arounds for at least two errors (on my taxes). a. TIN not picked up on 1099-R, software goes to that page to enter this b. Regardless If you’re using the standard deduction, it goes to the Schedule A to make you check a box saying you’re using Sales Tax. Took me awhile because this made no sense. Perhaps this is a new Fed law, so the App should be more specific on what we neeed to do to enter this one.
These workarounds have been added into the accuracy review. Once you’re finished with the initial review and have gone to the pages past that, it takes you back to the accuracy review and one by one pulls up a page to enter the missing data. Then you run the accuracy review again and it pulls up the second one, this continues until youve fixed your return due to their bugs.
I’ve been designing, developing, supporting, and managing software applications for 38 years and each one of these needs to be put into the accuracy review instead of separately going back-and-forth between the pages and the forms. I was appalled when I saw the first one show up, then the second, etc. This is called a “programming nightmare that some affect all the customers using it.
You MUST inform your customers about the missing or incorrect data, asking to review the form number and data. Waiting until we’re finished and these popping up one at a time after the accuracy review is unacceptable. We’ve been programming Internet software for 30 years now. This looks like untested programming, so you need to remind them of industry, quality control functions. The First one being to check every single piece of data on every page to ensure it has gone into the database correctly. This test was never performed on the 1099-R!
You cant put out TAX software that hasnt been tested! Therefore, one star for all because this affects all.
Been using your PC Software for so many years, but your development team got so many things wrong this year that I can’t use you anymore.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Download version much better than web version
on March 27, 2023

I have been using the download version for many years. I tried using the web version and found it extremely difficult to use and not user friendly to navigate. It also kept requiring you to purchase extra capabilities and 'pro' services. I went back to the download version even though I had to re-type everything. It was worth it. The download version is much easier to use and navigate. Five stars for the download version and One star for the web-version.
I've been using this software for over 10 years now and it's generally been okay to use. However, it seems this year's edition has been very buggy, and installation and updating were a manual process instead of seamlessly automatic like in past years. I'm a very technical person, but had to dig through reviews and do a couple of Google searches to find the right steps. Hopefully, they'll be able to do some more beta testing before release next tax season.
Printing doesn’t work correctly. I’m on a Mac, and the app would only print the upper left corner of each page. I found that if I removed my printer from the Printers control panel, then I could print correctly to PDF. My Mac is completely up to date on the latest version of MacOS and HP printer software. Fortunately, this did not appear to affect my attempt to submit my taxes online.
