Good software but had one issue for 2021 filing.

Overall, it is good and I have been using the software for many years. I would have given 4 or 5 starts but this year I had a problem to transfer the date to State tax filing. My Federal estimated tax payment was transferred as the State estimated tax and I had to make adjustment after filing. I hope they will fix the problem for 2022.

The software once loaded properly works very well. Had little trouble filling out my return and my returns are not simple. The major reason for 4 stars and not 5 was that I have Windows and the H&R Block website kept downloading the MAC version so it didn't work right. I had to get online help from Block to get the correct version downloaded and that took some effort.

Cons: Hard to import documents

I’ve used H&R Block’s software for years, and would recommend it for most users. Some who aren’t familiar with taxes and tax forms might have trouble because some forms aren’t as clear where to enter them in the program as the online version and not all state forms are supported. However for those with some basic tax knowledge the software is much more comprehensive than the online program (without having to upgrade to more expensive product).

Does a good job but you still have to double check its output. Often I find I have to take extra steps to claim everything correctly. However it doesn't try to claim deductions inappropriately as I once had TurboTax do (this caused me to owe penalties and interest). Admittedly my taxes are bordering on complex (dozens of schedules and nearly 100 pages for a filling copy). In particular it messes up with my cost basis for my IRAs and the conversions if I only use the interview.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund
