Worked well for me, but lots of little problems. (1) Many fields were identified with names that differed from the names on the information returns for the appropriate field. Maybe Block took the name from the 1040 schedule, but the IRS mistake shouldn't bind Block in this way. (2) I was not eligible for electronic filing, because the return was very late, however I didn't get told that till I had filled out the credit card information and several other pages. It should not have offered electronic filing for a late return if it couldn't follow through. (3) On the current return, I was not able to electronic file because of a certificate problem, but there was no explanation of what I could do about that.
Have used this software for over a decade but found it to be less clear and less precise in its instruction this year. I slways pay fir free state e-file only to f I md that my circumstance prevents me ftom e-filing. Clearer direction and simple format would help thisenofnus whi h a ve retired; may be disabked; and yet work part time.
Works really good for personal and small business tax prep, and quite easy to use. Easy to navigate back and forth to various points in the tax prep as well as seeing full tax forms if needed. You can also run what if scenarios for extra deductions (like IRA funding, etc). Very useful to me, and have used it for years, so easy to import last years taxes as a starting point, to then edit and add changes to the return for the current year. Do wish they offered a bit more info on there help search front.
sucky dialogs for state returns. too much information is expected of me. i'm just trying to fill out a questionaire and have my return done. also, tricky items like student scholarships are given short shrift.
I found H&R Block Premium 2020 both easy to use and very thorough. I am retired from over 20 years as an HRB tax pro and the home use program is almost at the same level of effectiveness as the in-office software.
