I have used H&R Block tax software for ten or so years. Even though I could probably fill in the necessary forms without the interview, I choose to let it walk me through. This year I had a couple of unique situations which I felt HRB did not cover very well, thus the lower rating.
The software is great. It's easy to use and the backing of H&R Block adds to the confidence that it's right. I've used it for decades though over that period it's had other names along the way. Never had a problem, an audit, etc. I've had some rather complex tax situations and it made every one of them easy. I recently had a question about the filing date change which had just occurred, and the software didn't accommodate that. I was not impressed with the person with whom I chatted - basically gave pre-written answers that made no sense and were irrelevant to the question. Almost like dealing with a robot, but that was not the case. They said they'd have someone answer my question via email within 48 hours and I never heard from them again, it now being about a month later. I did go in and check the software a couple of days ago and the most recent update fixed the issue, so I'm set. But it made me very leary of relying on their support in the future. Not good.
