Everything was good except I had to do the NJ health insurance “fair share” manually. Admittedly, this does not apply to most, but the calculation seems pretty straightforward so I thought it should have been included.
I have used H & R Block for several years. I have found it to be comprehensive, intuitive, that is easy enough for people with only limited understanding of tax filing. Very easy to file electronically
I have been using H&R Block Tax software for decades, going back to when it was TaxCut. I have always had rather complex tax returns with multiple rental properties and more recently retirement income and farm expenses and incomes. Preparing my returns has always been pain free and I've never had a return corrected or audited. I like the way that H&R Block software easily imports last year's data and gives me the option of following the interview process or allowing me to do a quick form entry on sections with which I am quite familiar. The accuracy check and the determination of audit likelihood gives me confidence that I have done a good job preparing my return and the confidence to hit the e-file send button. For me, I cannot ever see myself changing tax software vendors.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
Disappointed that the upgrade to change the filing date to May 17 won't happen until April 9. I had to pay my federal taxes early in order to get my state refund earlier since TaxCut requires e-filing together. The program also had a glitch I had to work around. It insisted that I itemized last year, which I did not and I had to change a backup form. Not the usual straight forward TaxCut process of prior years.
