This is the first time I have done my own taxes in about 3 decades. I got stuck in a couple spots but eventually figured it out. I know it will be super easy next time. Overall, was good.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
I don’t enjoy doing taxes by any stretch of the imagination but H&R Block software helps take a lot of the headache away! Have used it for many years and always glad I did!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
I've been using this software for years. Generally it is up to date, and gives you a pretty good level of comfort. One element that could be improved is providing some reassurance that values used in the past will be carried forward (e.g., charitable deductions, or losses that go beyond what is allowed in a single year). I am pretty sure I lost a few thousand because I didn't remember to carry these forward from prior years, and the software didn't remind me, or even ask about them. Hopefully this has changed, since I will be including these in the most recent return. And as the laws get more obscure, some of the terminology is pretty technical - more effort could be put into simplifying the meaning so that a layman can understand what is going on. Other than that, I am content with the software.
I sold a rental house and the software led me through the reporting process without difficulty
Pros: Easy to prepare
I would recommend this to a friend!

I've been using H&R Block software for 10+ years and trust them to do things right. But this year I ran into something that I feel should be addressed. I decided to file this year as a Qualified Joint Venture for my self-employed husband and wife business in CA. This should be an automated process based on the percentage that each person participates in the business, but everything had to be entered and divided up manually, adding hours to the process, along with the increased possibility of errors. Despite that, everything else is rock solid and always has been through the years.
