Poor and unintuitive interface. Certain questions can no longer be accessed if the user navigates away from the question, e.g. filling in user drivers’ license ID information. Audit notes do not link directly to section required to fix the error.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I use a professional tax package for most of my returns, however I'm limited in the number of returns that I can. So, I bought the H&R Block Home and Business package as a backup. The first return I prepared was for an individual who lived in and worked in 2 different states. The program did an excellent job of walking through each return with all the right questions and I completed the federal and 2 states in less than an hour. The one negative point was the cost of the second state. I had to pay almost as much for that one state as I did for the original package. That was the only return I did for that state which makes the cost a bit unreasonable.Bit I did get the job done, correctly, and I'll just have to pass the extra cost along to my client.
I tried both the online and desktop apps and found it incredible that they are so different, where as I would expect them to be fairly close. Specifically the navigation is different, the questions are being asked in different order for the same product. I do love the feature of importing W2 and 1099 forms from PDF files.
Sticking with H&R Block is the best way to get all the benefits from buying the program. You are able to import all of the previous years information which not only simplifies the process but acts as a checklist for assuring you have a complete return. The final review is also very important and a great capability. You can't e-file until all of the issues are corrected. My issues related to needed information about our Health Insurance not financial.
