typically, i am very satisfied with the program. However, this year, the program kept inadvertently shutting down and losing information I had saved. The first two times, I was half way finished and had to start all over again. The other two or three times I had to redo half of the state and local return. extremely frustrating to have to do the same work over and over again..
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Wish I'd known before buying...

I'm fortunate my state doesn't have an Income tax, so I've never had to buy an edition that includes a state return. This year, however, I did some business in another state, and prepared for the filing season by purchasing the appropriate state edition. All went well until I started to fill it out and was greeted with an apology that the program doesn't support non-resident returns. The offer to choose another state's return was, of course useless to me, and I was left with wasted money and the unpleasant task of finding, preparing and mailing a paper return.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Overall great but some state issues

Imported W-2 put KC earnings tax on separate line which created error
Would be helpful if state directions indicated what was auto downloaded from federal: Medicare premium deduction and local tax deduction almost entered twice

I’ve used H&R Block for 15+ plus. If you want to complete your taxes, literally, in 15 minutes, this is the way to go! It imports your data from prior years, looks for every deduction, auto checks for errors, and e-files federal and state.

Works better than what I used to use

I like HRB software better than Turbotax. One thing I wish HRB would work on is a system check for states that require state itemized deductions if federal is itemized. This program told me I should take the federal standard deduction, so Maryland state law required I must also take state standard deduction. I overroad the program and said to itemize both returns, and the net result was a loss of $200 on the federal return and a $800 gain on the state return! The HRB program didn't figure this out; I did! The method suggested by this software would NOT have given the maximum refund.
Pros: Easy to prepare

This software is very easy to use. I realized a made a mistake with a 1099_Misc and Schedule "C". I couldn't quite correct it, but deleting the Sched. "C" and starting that part over with the "Go To" function made it simple and fast enough to correct it! Of course the Importing and Drag n Drop of last year's forms is a great timesaver. I've been using this software of various flavors for about 5 years now, and I've never been disappointed.
