The software worked well, but try as we might we tried a epson wf-2630 printer,
And an hp 4480 and they wouldn't print. We spent several days and some money for new cartridges etc. And no print out. Then we were forced to e-file at more money and still no print out. We really had to.pay this year.
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Fine

Mostly fine, but I found it very hard to find where to enter my Quarterly Est. tax Payments. When I got to the State return (MA) it was even harder. (though I DID finally figure it out for both Fed. and State).
I would recommend this to a friend!

H&R Block Premiun will do the job
on April 12, 2019

I have used H&R block software for nearly 10 years, and it has its' ups and downs from year to year, yet it has proved reliable and I have stuck with it for its thorough coverage of rental property entries and self employment income. It may not be perfect, but it is reliably accurate and provides all the tools needed to print out final forms and e-file returns as needed.
Pros: Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
I would recommend this to a friend!

Basic Okay; Complex Not So Much

Does a great job on straight forward tax returns, but way too often the "next step" is "get Form XYZ, manually fill it out and add the results into your return" Premium should be premium and not average.
Pros: Fast
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Easy to use. Saving to PDF Was finally found after the included review. I rated program lower because I didn't think this save option was available. Once Iwas able to continue it was found.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
I would recommend this to a friend!

Very helpful, but slacked off on state program
on April 13, 2019

Generally, this software is great, and I won't be able to file taxes myself without it.
One major complaint, though, is that state taxes aren't handled as well. In particular, Passive Activity Loss limitations (Form 3801 in CA) is mostly left to the individual to hand-fill. That one form may take hours, with re-hashing text and numbers from place to place. It takes about 90% of the whole state return time to deal with that. Complicating the manual work in the current software is the fact that I cannot add more copies of 3801 schedules as FTB instructions suggest, so I end up merging activities and calculating lots of numbers by hand.
Meanwhile, it appears to be easy to automate. In most cases, there are no adjustments needed. So if Federal numbers and activities get auto-filled in, then only minor actual adjustments would be required, often none (which is what I end up with, but after 4 hours of work!).
I also find that many other adjustment steps in state program aren't very helpful. They just tell you read this or that bunch of docs and figure out what numbers to insert. Basically, HR Block really slacked off on the state programs.
My "Cons" reporting below mostly applies to the state program.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
I would recommend this to a friend!
