This was my son's program. Some of the questions were confusing because abbreviations were used that I didn't know what they were. Also since I figured out my taxes manually last year, i had to fill in many boxes multiple times which was tedious. But Federal filing was accepted quickly so that was reassuring. Please keep this response confidential as far as my personal information.

This program is difficult to use. It lacks explanation on many of the questions and there are a number of forms that require you to enter the information into the form rather than in the interview section. Many interview sections that will not let you go back to the previous question, you have to start back at the beginning of the section. However the biggest issue is that the refund or taxes owed numbers change randomly without entering any new information. Finishing a section then going through the same section again results in a different outcome. This happens in many of the interview sections. It makes you question the accuracy of the information. My taxes are not overly complicated so I'm not sure why the program struggles with being consistent. I've used this program for many years and have never been happy with it, but changing to a different tax software creates other issues. This year's version of the software is the worst version I've used so far.
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have been using HR Block for the last 15+ years. Our 2 daughters also now use it and we are all very satisfied. There are 2 reasons that I rated it as 4 out of 5 instead of 5 out of 5. First, some of the explanations for how to qualify for deductions are nebulous and too open for interpretation. Second, any reference to a "non HR Block" form or tax document should include a hyperlink.

Several mistakes were made during the interview, leading to incorrect direction with the HSA and Crypto transactions. This ultimately caused me to need to start from scratch and refile 2024.
