There are now multiple problems with the print dialog box, or at a minimum areas which should be improved: 1. Selecting "My Forms" does not select my forms. No forms are selected. I had to select them myself. 2. The dialog always defaults to a physical printer, rather than the printer I chose the previous time I was in the dialog. I prefer the dialog box would remember which printer I previously chose, and default to that same printer, rather than my physical printer. 3. And when printing State forms, the dialog box keeps defaulting to thinking I want to print Federal forms. Why cannot it remember that just ten seconds earlier I was in the Print dialoge for my State return, and default me to that same tab the next time I seloct print from the main ribbon menu.
I was under the impression that e-filing of the Federal Return was free. Not the case? I found it difficult to go back and look at areas to find specific data. Is it not possible to show the 'actual' form, for example the actual Itemized Deduction form? Would be much easier to look at the actual document.
This is the tenth year I've used H&R Block software to file my taxes. Since we have to fill out a full 1040, I find the question based logic to be the same as using an actual accountant (they ask the same questions), and the quality has always been top notch!
Cons: Hard to fix issues
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import, Fast
I like and trust this software. I gave four stars--not five--because of three minor shortcomings:
1. I always use the interview process. If you deviate from it for some reason, it can be difficult to find the place where you left off. A "Take me back to the interview" command would be nice.
2. The process of filing a 1040X amended return is just inexcusably confusing. I'm about to send mine off, and I'm still not sure I have it right. Hope the IRS doesn't gig me!
3. When I agreed to do this review from within the program, I would to fight my way through hideous amounts of spamware/bloatware/adware to get to the actual review interface. Hey, HRB--make it easy if you want me to do you a favor!
Your review indicated I was at a slight risk for an audit do to "one of the following reasons", all and any of which I was not trying to use or claim in my return. Secondly, your "areas needing correction" had no explanation of what the problem was, the window size didn't allow for easy identification of the area needing to be fixed and was generally a pain to correct. I think a bit more effort on the developers end could fix those issues without dipping too far into the profits pocket.
H&R Block sent me the disk in the mail in January. Since I don't get all by documents until late February, I just finished my returns a few hours ago. The software program is great.
