Consistently ok, some problems filing

I've been using Taxcut for years, so I just continue. No reason to switch, it does the job. NJ doesn't require driver's license, but couldn't get past it in filing which angered me. Also, free e-filing for state should be part of the package.
Cons: Hard to fix issues
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to prepare, Fast

quick but lacks the former features of education

I have used previous versions of H&R Block taxware.. This years version is fast efficient, leads you through much of the process but lacks the Educational support of explaining why where or how these paths are taken. Example: How did my tax return go in without my payment.....there is no evidence that leads in the process that this will be done separately or how it really will be done. Taxes are important to be done correctly and are a responsibility so while it is cool that I can do my taxes quickly but blindly....now way. I will consider other products next season.

gambling winnings/losses an issue

Does not handle gambling winnings well when they are reported on a 1099-MISC vs. a W-2G. Did the workaround suggested by Simon T but the accuracy review still wants me to remove the losses on the Sch. A sheet.

Dear Cjamers:
I would suggest that you delete the 1099-MISC entry and re-enter the winnings as "Gambling Winnings" on line 21 (Other Income) of the 1040. There may be a standardized entry line for this type of income. The software should recognize this as gambling income and allow a deduction up to this amount.

Frustrating!

I do have a more complicated process than most as I have two rental properties and some dividends and capital gains within a trust to enter. I have found that the only way I can get the proper forms completed is to do the trust separately and print it. Then I do my regular return and enter the numbers from my trust return. However, I can never really see what is going on as I can't look at the forms.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
Pros: Easy to install

Wouldn't let me update on my (2016) Mac.

I repeated tried to update on my Mac and got a message saying 'waiting for file to close' . But it would go through the update and appear to complete, but never got the confirmation message. I then went to a PC tablet and it worked fine. Also, it wouldn't import my previous year HR Block return information.
Cons: Hard to fix issues, Hard to install, Hard to import

fairly easy to use

Fourth year I've used Block which meant info from last year's was imported saving time.
Help menu included addresses of stores to get assistance but they are totally separate, know little about the software.
