Have tried other programs, but HR Block is the most direct and easiest to use.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast

Program needs to be better....

I've used this program for the last 3 years and the program fails to compare data from previous year and question you if you fail to input similar data/deductions???
I don't plan on buying again unless there are changes.

Backup failure

I purchased a new computer that I will use next year for my taxes. I attempted to install 2016 H&R Deluxe on the new system and it will not install using the backup from my old system. Under "file" there is no provision to restore a file from backup. When I insert the USB Flash Drive containing my 2016 backed up file, the software only provides to start a new return and when I do that it only imports the fixed data from the return and not the numerical data filed with the return. I consider this a major system flaw to not be able to import my full return onto my new computer leaving the only option to reenter all 2016 information and replicate what I've already done so it's available for import to my 2017 return next year.
Cons: Hard to fix issues, Hard to install

From start to finish, this took 3 hours to complete, from entering data, completing everything, error checking, printing the returns, filing electronic Federal and State, and getting confirmation that the returns were accepted. Wow, a load off my mind.

Third year to use software and it went smoothly. A little disappointed that we couldn't efile state due to the same clitch the past 2 years. We just happen to have the same withdrawal amount state and county and it refuses the forms even filing separate from federal. Clitch fixed on software at HR store. We checked.
Cons: Hard to fix issues
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import, Fast
