Inflexible

We owe a penalty for underpayment of estimated & withholding taxes. The earlier you file & pay the penalty, the lower it is; but this software will not let me change the date paid to an earlier date. Because this software has no way to change the "paid by" date, I had to manually prepare the Form 1040 and 2210 so that the penalty could be paid earlier at a lower rate, which puts us back at mailing in a paper return. As for the State, we are expecting a refund so we decided to file it electronically; however, this software will not let us e-file our State return unless we e-file our Federal return. Frustrating and annoying.
As for ease of downloading: I finished our Federal return first, then downloaded the State software. At that point, it wiped out everything on our Federal return. I had to go back to square one and re-enter all of it. Doubly frustrating and annoying.

Easy to understand

Easy to understand, screens are explained well. Had no trouble getting answers from the "help" boxes.

I completed and filed my taxes. I when back to check status and could not read the file. Don't know what to do at this point.
Cons: Hard to fix issues

Excellent Program

I've used H&R Block for years to complete my taxes. The interview process is excellent. It helps you uncover deductions and credits of which you might not be aware. My only complaint is the filing fee for state returns. This should be included with the program since there is an additional fee for state returns.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I usually purchase H & R block to do my taxes, however this year was terrible. I saved my return only to have it disappear after downloading the state that I needed. After going through the entire process again, I saved it to multiple hard drives. Now, after I have filed, the program does not know that I filed despite receiving an email confirming the filing status. I would check my return, but the software still does not know that I filed. Poorly done this year.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to fix issues, Hard to prepare
Pros: Easy to install
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have been using this software for 51 years, since 1965, and have "NEVER" been challenged by the IRS. This H&R Block Tax software is reasonably priced, easy to use and easy to file when completed. Why would anyone make another Tax Software choice when a winning choice has already been made and tested for 51 years. I will be using H&R Block Tax Software as long as a tax return is required by our government. (Read my lips! There is nothing better, if there is, I sure wouldn't take the chance to find out! I might be old, but I aint dumb. When you pull a winner stick with it till it dies or gets bought like Tax Cut to keep it alive.....)
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import, Fast
I would recommend this to a friend!

local sales tax

program did not prompt me for local sales tax. I must now file an amended return! I have used your software for at least 10 years prior. Very disappointed.
