Useful Tax Tool

I have used H&R Block Deluxe for the past 2 years to handle my tax returns. The software helped simplify entering a 1099-C canceled debt form and also helped me handle self-employment tax (first time I had to deal with that tax this year). The program is great at walking you through step by step.
My only constructive feedback would be that the software failed to prompt me to fill out the Schedule SE even though I needed to pay Social Security and Medicare tax (I don't own my own business, and I'm not technically "self-employed," but I have to pay "self-employment" tax because my employer is not required to deduct Social Security and Medicare from my paycheck). Consequently, when I filled out the Schedule SE manually, the program kept trying to tell me that I was making an error. However, I think the system was simply confused, because my situation is somewhat unusual.
Nevertheless, the software otherwise did a good job navigating me through each form and finishing the process. I would still recommend this program as a useful tax tool.
Pros: Easy to install

I e-Filed But Unsure If I Actually Paid!

I entered credit card information however, I'm not sure if I just paid my state's (VA) fee or actually paid what I owed to Federal and State. Really confusing!

Delux Fed and State 2016

Worked well until now. A recent message appears to indicate that I now must pay my taxes due. However, when I completed I am certain that e-filed, both Fed and state, and pain through H&R Block software.
Cons: Hard to fix issues, Hard to prepare
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to import, Fast

Troubles with program crashing

1. The federal return would not download to the second state return I purchased and was working on. I shut the program down a few times and restarted my computer and the Fed and state returns finally linked up.
2. The program would crash when I was choosing the e file method of filing the state return. Thought I wasn't going to be able to e file the state return. It finally made it's way to the e file purchase page and the program worked.
3. I added hand made notes about these problems on my fed copy in case I want to go back to using the other tax program I used to use.
4. Wish the program had a large print option for the instructions.

H&R Block tax software is made for people who can think and reason. It is not made to be overly simplistic and childish like some other tax softwares. With Deluxe, one can prepare 1040s with Schedules A, B, C, D along with a host of credits. (May be able to do other schedules, too like E, but I haven't checked.) It would be nice if they did make the forms view more like viewing it as a printout would look.
Cons: Hard to fix issues
Pros: Fast

Really Good Software

I had not used H&R Block for a couple of years, and forgot how much I liked it. The interview goes smoothly and is easy to understand. I will definitely use This product again.

I have used this program for several years and I do other family member taxes. Very helpful with military and Not for Profit aid workers overseas.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import

Not as good as previous years

A few features were a bit confusing this year. I was unable to e-file my state return because it asked for information that was not provided on my 1099 INT and my 1099 R. This information had not been required before. Neither the provider of the 1099 INT nor the 1099 R had any idea of what the program was asking for.
Cons: Hard to fix issues
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to import
I would recommend this to a friend!
