I had great difficulties with my 2017 Return. When I thought it was finished and after it was transmitted to the IRS I noted that it was really fowled up. I had to redo everything and mail the return in with a request that the IRS toss the electronically submitted return.
I have used your program for many years and for the first time, I find myself unable to email my schedules to a daycare tax specialist to go over my info before I file. I will not use your product again, due to this feature you have in your program. I have paid for the program and should be able to utilize it to my advantage & to make sure I have everything on proper line before I submit to IRS/MN.
One of the main reasons I use tax preparation software is to file electronically. Unfortunately, after completing my tax return, the program informed me I would have to endure the expense, inconvenience, and additional work of filing a paper return, because I had more than 255 security transactions during 2017. I could not find a single reference to this limitation in any of the written information provided by H&R Block, not even when I downloaded these transactions form the stock broker. Had I know of this limitation I could have entered the transactions into the tax program manually in summary form, then filed electronically. Also the instructions for Form 1116 were inadequate. I do not anticipate using H&R Block tax software again. Since I could not file electronically, I do not feel I have received full vale from this tax program.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import, Fast
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to fix issues, Hard to prepare
We have used H & R software for several years. However, I feel it let us down this year. I mistakenly entered our 'income amount' as the amount of 'federal taxes withheld' on one of our w-2's. I thought the program should trigger an alert since the amount of income and the amount of taxes withheld was entered as the same amount. I realize that those amounts could be the same, but not normally. I think this type of error should have triggered a question to review those two amounts.
