Best Software on The Market for FEDERAL Taxes

I have been a customer since the very first software was published by the original company - TAXCUT. Every year since, I have purchased that software and continued when HR Block purchased TAXCUT. I really like how each year's data carries over to the next year, so that the same data doesn't have to be entered multiple times. The FEDERAL software is easy to follow and the help screens are great. Very easy to navigate through the entire software package..... THIS IS NOT TRUE FOR THE STATE PROGRAMS. I use NC and SC forms.The STATE SOFTWARE Packages ARE NOT easy to follow and navigate through the software. Help screens are ridiculous. One is pretty much on their own for STATE software, for the duration of the data entering process and is left "HOPING" that everything is correct. The cost for the state software, in my opinion is way too expensive for what the customer receives. I hope HR Block makes the STATE software work more like the FEDERAL software. The survey answers are based on both FEDERAL and STATE software packages (for example..STATES are Hard to Prepare and Time Consuming compared with the FEDERAL)...Survey needs to be done on FEDERAL and STATE separately.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare

Hours looking 4 what should've been an easy 2 find

I have been on soc sec disability and it was my first time filing strctly with soc sec as my income. I had my SSA 1099 icome form but could NOT FIND where to input the numbers !?
Searching for the term by "social security" or "ssa 1099" or other descriptions wasted hours. I finally had to contact H&R block phone support for help. They said it was under SSA in the HELP area.
Ok, that's fine. I never would have searched with the word SSA to find the answer. But people are subjective. To each their own.
BUT WHY NOT ADD LIKE 3 MORE "EXACT SEARCH WORDS" IN YOUR HELP.

Add like 1. social security income 2. soc sec disability income 3. SSA 1099.
I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the lousy search results for finding where to enter my Soc Sec disability income. Just add a few words to the HELP INDEX and I never would have had to WASTE hours of my time and then ultimately have to call you.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
Cons: Time consuming

i would give this zero stars, but the corporation requires a minimum of one star.
i needed help this year and couldn't get it. additionally, the program showed me a cartoon at the end to say my audit risk was elevated due to a list of possible reasons, none of which applied to me.

REJECTION FROM IRS D/T INSUFFICIENT DIGIT ALLOWANC

My 2018 tax -filing to the IRS was rejected because H&R Block only provided a 5 digit space for the PIN NUMBER when the IRS requires a 6 digit PIN NUMBER! YOU NEED TO REVIEW YOUR SOFTWARE BEFORE SELLING IT!!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
Cons: Time consuming

Overall I just like it better than Turbotax. There had been placed in the pst, with Turbotax, in which I could not edit entries [as though turbtax had those areas LOCKED].
Taxcut has allowed me to go back and update form figures without jumping through a bunch of hoops.

Totally sucks this year

I have used H&R Tax preparation software for over 20 years, and this year, it couldn't find my previous years return using the program which is saved in several formats on my local computer. And also, when I tried to efile, the federal government rejected due to a an adjusted gross income number, which was correct on my 2017 return. Unfortunately, I won't be using this software ever again even though I have to pay for the deluxe edition every year.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Questions hard

I found many questions that i didn't understand and entered an amount twice. It made my tax to pay very high and inaccurate. I had to go over it completely many times. This year I was in the hospital for a lengthy time and had to file very late. I felt the program vague in that area. I have used the program for many years.

Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
