HAD TO CALL H&R BLOCK FOR CLARIFICATION...WAIT TIME WAS 60 MINUTES....I GOT DISCONNECTED AND HAD TO ANOTHER 60 MINUTES. STARTED OVER..HAD TO WAIT 60 MINUTES ONLY TO BE TRANSFERRED AND HAD TO WAIT ANOTHER 60 MINUTES ONLY TO BE TRANSFERRED....ANOTHER 60 MINUTES...ETC...I SPENT APPROXIMATELY 8 HOURS OVERALL ON HOLD...ONLY 1 PERSON OUT OF 5 WAS KNOWLEDGEABLE ENOUGH TO HELP ME.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I used the soft ware last year. It was user friendly, cost effective and one came in the mail this year.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast

Fell Short

Was going to have me pay a penalty for overfunding my HSA when if fact this funding was within the allowable amount to contribute. Had to go in and change the figures myself as I knew this was not correct. Big error in program!
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Couldn't send 1040 copies to clients!

It's really a great software but it is hard to pull your 2018 1040 package up without opening the whole software. Totally different from last year. I tried to send my friend a copy of her 1040 taxes, 2018 but couldn't send it to her. I might have to go back to Turbo taxes. Other than that it was fine!
Pros: Easy to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

confident this was better than other brands. biggest concern for me was transferring data from previous year - i used HR's online version - and it was seamless. not much advice on how to save for future years though. but thats ok.

Great program but a couple new Tax Code glitches

Several years ago I used "the other tax program" for a few years then tried this one to see what the difference was. The difference in ease of use made me into a total convert I have used this software for YEARS! A GREAT thing this year was I did not have pay for the State Income Tax form this year. I live in one of the seven states that does not have a state sales tax but this was the first year I could buy a version of the program that had ONLY the Federal tax form. So with all of this praise, why did I give a four star rating? Because this year I ran into a couple of glitches in the interview process that resulted in a number of flags in the final review that had to be corrected which was very <u>annoying</u> even if it did not take too long to correct. One involved separating sales data from a joint investment account and data from a traditional IRA distribution. The other involved a 1099-MISC for oil royalties my spouse receives. Other than these glitches, which I expect came about because the radical new tax law and which I fully expect will be corrected for the 2019 tax year, I will continue to use this program.
