I hate it when your program tells me a form is not available to use for e-file when that is the reason I bought the Deluxe version. review is too complicated.

This year I was hit with an attack that appeared like a normal program update but actually deleated my nearly compleated return. HR Block provide me with a fresh copy of the program. I rebuilt my return and filed it. When I went back to check status I found my file in an unfiled state. After checking on line I learned my IRS return was compleated. This never happened to me for the 20 years that I used H&R Block or its predisessor Tax Cut.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Easy to import, Fast
I would recommend this to a friend!

It's okay, but nothing to get excited about

The app crashes when doing an update. Sometimes it's hard to get it to run again. I had to uninstall the app, re-install original version, then apply update hoping it wouldn't crdash. There's no tech support on the app, so I almost switched to Turbo Tax. They're a bit more expensive, but their app works at least.
Also, the state forms are not backed up. The app has an option to backup the reteurn, but the state reeturn is not in the backup. This could be problematic if there's an audit.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to fix issues, Hard to install
Pros: Easy to install
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought Deluxe and paid separate for State return. When I went to send the federal return I was told the activation code was not valid. The return was the second (number 2) to be sent. The first one went with no problem. I was forced to pay for the e file. I would like my refund for the filing fee. I also wrote the code number on a separate paper and re-entered it three times.

Terrible for College Expenses

Decent software to handle income and deductions, but for college related expenses, it falls flat on its face. This was our first year with one in college, and instead of the software guiding us through the unknown, it failed to deliver. HR Block either doesn't know how, or doesn't care, to make user friendly tax software to guide parents through "qualified" higher education expenses, 529 plan withdrawals, and which, if any, tax credits you are entitled to take based upon your situation. Instead, I had to go out and research the topic in order to complete my return. Many online forums voiced the same frustrations about this software's shortcomings in this area. If you don't have a student in college, you are fine, but if you do, I'd steer away from this product.
