It's okay, but nothing to get excited about

The app crashes when doing an update. Sometimes it's hard to get it to run again. I had to uninstall the app, re-install original version, then apply update hoping it wouldn't crdash. There's no tech support on the app, so I almost switched to Turbo Tax. They're a bit more expensive, but their app works at least.
Also, the state forms are not backed up. The app has an option to backup the reteurn, but the state reeturn is not in the backup. This could be problematic if there's an audit.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to fix issues, Hard to install
This year I was hit with an attack that appeared like a normal program update but actually deleated my nearly compleated return. HR Block provide me with a fresh copy of the program. I rebuilt my return and filed it. When I went back to check status I found my file in an unfiled state. After checking on line I learned my IRS return was compleated. This never happened to me for the 20 years that I used H&R Block or its predisessor Tax Cut.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Easy to import, Fast
I hate it when your program tells me a form is not available to use for e-file when that is the reason I bought the Deluxe version. review is too complicated.
Federal/state software is great - however when you work in multiple states you have to go buy other states after you bought the initial software needs to be corrected. Need 1 package that has all 1 federal and regardless of how many states. 1 stop shop.
State credit code needs a "learn more" link on where to find the codes, can't e-file with code 125 (and maybe others) but no warnings about this until the e-file is rejected. Software accepts a blank entry like it isn't required. Once rejected, they give information on where to find the codes. Would have been nice to know this up front! Then you have to mail the return in (not Block's fault, that's on GA). Also GA driver's license (or state ID) is requested for e-file when starting the GA return, but when filing, it asks for it again but doesn't pull the information entered previously. That's just a little irritating because there is no reason for that omission. Other that these items, it did ok for me.
Actually this was a total free program I received by mail from hr block. At first I thought it would be like the other tax software and demand more money to complete my tax filing and I was very surprised that it was a great program that was fast and free. Thanks for the HR Block! Kleendean-Elk River, MN
