Every year that I make a QCD from my IRA, I must explain it to the IRS in writing, after they notify me of an error. I have written you in the past about the fact that your program does not provide a provision to enter this information and it is not in the interview.
Pros: Fast
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Format Issues

Program seems to import correctly and the channeling of steps to complete the horribly complex tax return and code and regulations seems pretty good, but the way graphics are displayed and especially input is crowded into too small spaces leaves a lot to be desired. Further, it carries over to print, so that some numbers are truncated.
This may be due to the setting I use in order to see the tiny print (+125%), but I would rather blame that on the program than on these aged eyeballs.

Absolutely painless

We've been using H&R Block's tax software for many years and I can't imagine trying to do our taxes any other way. The interface is clean and simple and the software walks you through the entire filing process without bogging you down in a raft of confusing forms. In fact, you never really deal with any actual IRS forms at all (unless you choose to do so). If there is anything I'd improve it would be to include a bit more robust contextual help. I should be able to right click on literally any and every box during the process and get a contextual explanation of what's being asked. The help function is fine, but I think it could be beefed up a bit.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

Overall, the program is easy to use and self-explanatory. Good prompts to remind of things to think about. The one thing I'd make more easily available would be the search function. I had to hunt to find it and used it several times for completion of forms that didn't automatically show up.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast

State filing problems...

Been using this software for quite a few years so I know how it should work. When finished with the Fed & did the state and then tried to file the software kept telling me I could not e-mail must mail. (This is a very basic tax filing, very little in assets, nothing out of the norm except the person had died in 2018 will a basic will no complications). PLUS if I could have e-file it was going to cost. Finally went directly to the state revenue site on-line and was able to just enter the same data/information and submit FOR FREE!
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It handled all my INT, DIV, capital gain/loss/ IRA. Imported in last years data, helps me remember all my accounts if I'm missing something that didn't get mailed to me. I called for help, downloaded my file to H&R Block, they were able to correct my problem. Wish it would do a better comparison to last year's taxes as in % change line items. It has some internal terms that have no help tied to it like "remaining amount available for deposit" which had a negative value, generated by the software, had to call them on how to make zero. Also when it does it final check it wants you to check something but there is no way to acknowledge it is correct so it keeps flagging.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
