Have used for several years. This year was unable to finish due to non-help online. I had to do an extension. For some reason. this year was done differently, and I did not like the changes. I asked question several different ways and could only get info for a totally different issue.
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

2024 was either the 3rd of 4th straight year I have used the H&R Block tax software package. It is reliable and thorough. One of the features I like best is it accesses the prior year's return and extracts the necessary information, which make it user friendly and time efficient.
Pros: Easy to prepare
I would recommend this to a friend!

Technically flawless tax software but...

This was technically flawless software. However, after paying extra when buying software in order to get access to a state tax return, I was disappointed to have to pay extra AGAIN to actually use it. It would be more honest to include the actual functional price in the purchase price.

I've used H&R Block's software for a few years now...it's been consistently good, but always seems like there are a few things that could have been better. For example, my very large employer is not among those from whom you can download W2's. (I was surprised though to find that the "take a phone picture of your W2" and upload that worked pretty well...although it failed to bring in part of the state info.) There were two or three other minor things that seemed less helpful or convenient than one would like.... The only one I recall specifically now though was that I got to the end, went to E-file, and was basically blindsided by "we can't e-file your Oklahoma return because of something like 'multiple exempt interest or dividends'" and that I'd need to print the forms and file on paper. As it was late on 4/14 and my printer was out of order, that meant a trip to the post office to get the form and another trip to mail the return, if I wanted proof of having mailed it timely, plus standing in line for a long while since it was then the15th. I have not run into that before even though I haven't changed the investments at the brokerage that had that box checked on their 1099. Maybe you had a heads-up somewhere on that, but if so it didn't come up while I completed the return.
