Form 1099 R

I made a charitable contribution directly from my IRA. The 1099-R from Schwab did not reflect that. I finally managed to include it on my software worksheet, after I found it at the end of the 1099R interview. Another issue, the automatic downloads from Charles Schwab did not download our addresses and other details on the 1099-R properly. I was finally able, after a great deal of work, to manually put them in during the error review process, but it was very difficult to do. Did the charitable contribution trigger this by creating a taxable distribution different from the 1099-R?? There is no box on the 1099-R for these charitable contributions, and manually adding addresses was difficult to do

Cons: Time consuming, Hard to import documents

Got this from an Amazon sale. It's the one I use every year. It has the state included too. Have used Turbo Tax in the past, and this program is easier for me to use and understand.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast

Easy to use verses Turbo Tax

I first purchased Turbo Tax and found it VERY DIFFICULT to use. I then purchased H & R Block and was VERY HAPPY.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast

Not the best year

I've been a customer for over 10 years. I don't feel like this year software maximized on customers return. Saw some things I've saw before like reduction in the federal increased the amount you owed in the State.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

I E-filed my son's return on this software. I received an E-mail from H & R Block that it was accepted. I went to check and found a notation that the return was not filed. It turns out the refund was!!! deposited in his checking account as requested. How do explain this ?

Clear and easy

I have used hrblock for 3 straight years. It is easy to use and covers the current laws. Prior year info is pulled into the current year and you make updates. Great

Difficult to navigate after stepping through

The software is fairly simple to follow when it takes you through every step, but if you want to go back to just one step, you have to click all the way through that section to get to where you want to go.
I e-filed Federal and State, but when I go back to check the status, it only shows State, and I do not know how to check the status of the Federal return. It's nice for filing, not so great for following up afterwards.
When I purchased the Deluxe, it said it included the state, but it did not say that I would have to pay a separate fee to e-file the state, so that is a bit misleading.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
