Mostly straightforward step by step process

Our 3rd year using H&R Block app after many years using TurboTax. So far, so good.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have been using H&R Block Tax Software for years and I have never had a problem filing a return. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to do their own taxes. I guess you can call me a Block-head, but that's okay as long as I get my refund
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
I would recommend this to a friend!

I had some difficulty with the credits portion but otherwise the app was fairly easy to use.
Pros: Maximizes refund, Fast
Cons: Time consuming

I have been using this for years and have been happy...UNTIL THIS YEAR. This year I filed (electronically and my return was rejected due to an ACA error by NYS after getting that resolved I filed again... rejected again after a long phone conversation with IRS they told to add an attachment to the return but I tried a third time and the software does not allow attachments. So I decided to print sign and addressed the envelope, added postage and attachments ready for the mail tomorrow. Then I got an email time stamped 7:47pm that saying I "successfully submitted your 2024 federal return" So I opened the tax software and clicked on E-file Status and it says "The IRS rejected your federal return on Thu Apr 10 2025 at 11:51:36 PM " and it was only 8:48 PM! What is going on??? Time stamp is over three hours in the future? If it was less than three hours I would assume it is a time zone issue but not OVER 3 hours. I have not received the rejection email for the third submission yet does this mean I am going to get it at 11:51? it is still only 9:30 so I'll wait and see and mail the paper return even though I paid for efile and have to wait even longer for my refund, which is very frustrating because this is the first time I really needed the refund ASAP and it happens to be the only year it will be delayed.

Please make more user-friendly, we're not all CPA

Every year this software becomes more difficult to use. It needs to be much easier to use and understand. It becomes more difficult to use and understand every year. Fire the software engineers and hire people who can communicate clearly with average people. It is becoming more unusable every year.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I like H&R Block's tax software and have used it for years. Having used it for years, I can navigate around the program due to years of use, but I still find the user interface to be difficult. As an example, if I want to check the number of miles driven in my car for rental property management, I can't go directly to the page. I have to go to the rental property page, then look at and accept all the description, depreciation, income, and loss pages before I get to the car usage page. It would be nice if there were sub-menues on the different pages (Rental Property, Income, Losses, etc) that allowed more direct navigation. Unfortunately, the user must live with the Interview Format and work your way step by step to check and verify a prior entry.
Cons: Hard to prepare
