We bought the program on line when offered in an email. We waited for tax documents to come in the mail.
We found the program easy to use. Additional explanation links clarified unfamiliar items. We e-filed and within the hour Federal Accepted our return,

I've been using H&R Block Deluxe software for several years. It guides you every step of the way. Can't complain...plus, since I had one question about an inherited IRA, I got a free "second look" from an H&R Block preparer. All was well.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents

I have usually done my taxes on my own the old fashioned way. WHY??? That is what I have been asking myself after using the H&R Block Deluxe Software. It was very helpful and asked me questions to make sure I didn't miss anything. I wish I would have been using this product years ago!!! Thanks again

Quick to complete and clear instructions

I have used the software for several years and find it easy to use. One minor complaint: after I had finished entering the electronic file information, the Federal software had to be updated before e-filing resulting in my having to page through the same material again. It would seem that the need for an update could have been detected and taken care of before I went through the e-file pages..

My Quicken data was incomplete when I did the HR import. I would like to be able to back out the import from my financial software and start over. Things went smoothly after that.

I use H&R Block every year to prepare my federal and state return, but only file federal because they charge extra for efiling state returns. I buy the deluxe edition so I can prepare my state return and I think efiling should be included. I would rate higher and recommend if they did.

As I have indicated I consider the product to be excellent but there is a little room for improvement. When doing the RMD part I was asked by name how much I had actually had distributed to me. It didn't ask how much my wife had received and there was no place to put it. When I put my amount in it said I was being penalized thousands of dollars even though I had received the required RMD. So I decided to had my wife's RMD to mine and when I did it removed the penalty. Shouldn't it asked separately about my wife's RMD received? On my state return it did import lots of info from the Federal Return and almost immediately to filing with nothing seen to indicate my wife and I both had income that was exempt from KS tax. mine being military pension and her's KS Public Employees pension and no where to input info re the subtraction of Learning Quest donations from KS gross income. After spending about an hour trying to get help and not finding any. I went back to the beginning of the return and eventually was able to access the part of the program that showed where I could deduct the above items from my gross income. You should also indicate that if you had income less than 50 cents on some interest accounts (I had two) that there is no need to report. The program automatically reduced these two to zero and so that is what showed up. Then during review I was asked to confirm and the program kept asking me to confirm and I went around in circles until I deleted the two instances where the interest was rounded down to zero and when I did that I was able to continue with my tax form preparation. The update to the Federal return took about 40 minutes for some reason. I do not have a slow computer.

I've used the H&R Block Deluxe tax software for several years. They send me a disc in the mail making it easy to order/install at a great price. On the whole I'm very happy with it. It's easy to import data from the previous year. It's fairly easy to get chat support help when needed. It's nice to know they will be there to help if I'm ever audited.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
