This software assumes users don't know tax law.

I'm disappointed in the amount of information that is hidden from view once entered into the software. It's like a 'black box'; keeping the user in the dark about how some figures are calculated.
Overall not a bad program, however I think like tax slayer, the program should allow you an "enter myself" option with a "guide me" section instead of walking you through which can be quite time efficient. I also think automated fill- ins for forms would be a lot easier instead of giving you an entire form to fill out on your own. Tax slayer allows you quick mobility by making this option easier. One thing that I do like about it is that it provides you with a summary of all of the forms that you entered and checks for any red flags that may come up in an audit.
I've used this software for years. It is smooth, accurate and easy. The only issue is that I feel the State e-File fee should be included, which it isn't. Instead you get five free Federal e-files; not something the average taxpayer needs.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import, Fast
I've been using HR Block software since 2004. The software is good, however, live support is needed when tax questions are asked. Only online support is available for tax questions, sometimes it is hard to understand. Also, the tax advisors at live HR Blocks should be trained on this software; at least have one representative in each office answering questions. Thank you.Rita
I have used H&R Block tax software for the last 3 years and have found it to be very user friendly, well constructed and leads one through the information needed to file Federal and State returns step by step with excellent explanations all along the way.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import, Fast
I worked for HRB as a preparer for over 20 years but now use your product to file my relatives and my own return. One feature I miss is the ability to view the entire return without printing the return....which we could do at HRB tax office. Another confusing situation for me at least; I was stumped at the end of my own return because it insisted on entering a state code and I was not ready to do that. And I hit delete this area (or whatever it said) and had to go thru the entire Fed. return to re-enter the info. But the one feature I would really like is the ability to view the entire return during the work process.
