I have been using H&R Block tax software beginning with the 2014 tax year. It worked fine until the 2022 tax year. Entering data from 1099-Bs has been frustrating and somehow entries related to MRD distributions didn't go correctly and I needed to go to worksheets to sort out the problem. I'm sure the people who wrote the code for 1099-B and 1099-R think its easy to use but it should be easier for the person doing taxes once a year.
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Program cannot import data from Chase Manhattan or JP Morgan. H&R has no plans to fix this deficiency. The program is useless for anyone having substantial funds in JP Morgan accounts. Also, program cost is misleading as it doesn't include filing fees for most states and those fees are not disclosed until tax return is ready to be filed with those states.
Cons: Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
