I buy my software at the start of each year and load it onto my computer. Quick and easy. Lately I just download of the internet and presto, it’s done. Once done with all my information, I have the program check for error, then submit. This year, within a day, both federal and state came back approved and refunds were in my bank within weeks.

I was not able to use the software until 2/28 when it was finally updated. I started calling about it on Feb.1 and was told it would be fixed in 2 to 5 days. I called weekly. One time I was told to call the IRS, only they could fix it. The problem was the program would not accept data from 1099-R.
Cons: Time consuming

Intuitive and easy to set up. I bought and paid less for the deluxe edition than the basic edition even though I live in a state that does not have state tax. I purchased from an online site.
Some items could have better explanation. For example, sale of a vacation/secondary home. Does it get reported under capital gain/loss.?

Last two tax years (2023, 2024) the application would not automatically update. I always had to download and run manually. Not particularly complicated, but somewhat of a pain and time waste.
