The questions regarding the 1099-B were a little confusing especially the buy/selling of securities and cd's. Also had problems with question on check/not checked on distrbutions.

So happy I bought H&R Block after buying TurboTax, I have been a 20 plus year loyal user of Turbo Tax thinking the kool-aid couldn't be better somewhere else. Boy was I wrong, I was hit with 3 hurricanes DR events in 2024 and TurboTax has delayed the release of Form 4684 twice. This form is approved and available at IRS.Gov and H&R Block. After a one month delay to file my taxes I bought a copy of H&R Block and completed and submitted them in less than 2 hours. Fingers crossed I get my refund before the Federal Government shutdown next month and TurboTax add more delays. I am switching to H7R Block now, it cost 40% less, if I forgot to mention.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast

I can rely on this software to consider all of the things that easily escape me when doing my federal and state returns. I count on it year-to-year, and it doesn't disappoint. I only wish the program would offer the option to print out Form 1040 without the three additional schedules. I have requested/suggested this by phone twice in past years, but I have to print out 6 or more additional pages even if I only want Horm 1040. Otherwise, great!

I've been using H&R Block tax software for 20+ years now and it is consistently good. The 2024 version is the first where I've encountered three troubling issues that give me pause. First, the interview interface this year somehow never inquired about itemization and I had to go to the forms to figure out the problem. Second, there were a couple of the interviews that were flagged as still subject to updating....and this is in mid-February after I had just updated the software. After I examined the entries in the forms, I'm satisfied that the numbers and logic are correct but that made the interviews irrelevant. Third, in the state form that I had purchased, the underpayment penalty form was not included in the software. That is a fairly standard form that I would expect to be included. I may purchase H&R Block software again next year but this year's product has chipped away at my loyalty.
