I am a retired CPA and do 3 returns for elderly people that I know plus my return. The software is pretty easy to use but does lack some features that most people would never use. It serves my purposes well.

Super system for us dummies! Couple areas I had to review couple of times but got both Federal and State summited and approved
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents

I have used H & R Block for over 15 years. The software is user friendly. It pulls my previous year financials so it saves time. It has been a little cumbersome the last couple years getting the software. I like the new feature asking you to request the next years Tax return to be automatically sent to me e-mail.

When I started preparing my taxes, no updates to software were executed as was always done in previous years. This seemed strange to me but I continued on until I finished. When I selected to file my return, that is when an update to tax software executed and installed. This update should have been done at the very beginning before I started and finished. I had to then go back to the FILE option again to efile. As always I am happy with using H&R Block.
