In these days of free returns (including even IRS), the cost of H&R software plus state return is clearly overpriced! At the very least, state e-file should be included. My return is very simple: standard deductions, several 1099-INT and 1099-R. That is it.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Could not complete return without a warning about RMD. The software required me to calculate RMD for my 401K AND immediate annuities purchased with money from 401K even though the annuity companies notified me that annuity payments more than met my RMD requirements. This caused me to have to find fair market value for each annuity then calculate RMD to put into software. Even after doing that, it still produced a warning on the final check. Very Annoying!!!!!!!!!! Software should have accepted RMD amounts for only the 401K.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
