This is a great value. Makes tax filing rather straight forward; great help, if U need it, nice support if U run into problems with the IRS, and always looking to improve.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import, Fast

Not as good as previous years

A few features were a bit confusing this year. I was unable to e-file my state return because it asked for information that was not provided on my 1099 INT and my 1099 R. This information had not been required before. Neither the provider of the 1099 INT nor the 1099 R had any idea of what the program was asking for.
Cons: Hard to fix issues
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to import

I have used this program for several years and I do other family member taxes. Very helpful with military and Not for Profit aid workers overseas.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import

Really Good Software

I had not used H&R Block for a couple of years, and forgot how much I liked it. The interview goes smoothly and is easy to understand. I will definitely use This product again.
Cons: Time consuming

H&R Block tax software is made for people who can think and reason. It is not made to be overly simplistic and childish like some other tax softwares. With Deluxe, one can prepare 1040s with Schedules A, B, C, D along with a host of credits. (May be able to do other schedules, too like E, but I haven't checked.) It would be nice if they did make the forms view more like viewing it as a printout would look.
Cons: Hard to fix issues
Pros: Fast

Straightforward, efficient, BUT TEXT TOO FINE

I have used this software for several years now, and find it quite easy to use as far as preparing and processing taxes, but the text print is rather small and gives me eye strain, even with reading glasses, and a back ache from bending over the PC , that costs at least one star.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast

Does not run anymore on my win xp system

I have 6 years of this s/w on my xp system. This year's version caused me to install extra stuff so their .NET could work. Did it. Then finally was installing but the installer broke. I can click on the program and it says its installed but it can't find GetLogicalProcessorInformation in the KERNEL32.DLL. I could probably put a new kernel on but that would probably mess up my machine ! So much for using this program anymore...
Cons: Hard to install
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Easy to use

Have developed a preference for HR block over other tax services. It is a better bargain. Relatively easy to use. Like the prompts at the end of return which guide you in fixing possible errors and flags that could lead to an audit or the return be rejected.
Cons: Hard to fix issues
Pros: Easy to prepare
