I have been using the H & R Tax software for many years. I can typically find it on-line each January for an excellent price. I had difficulty figuring out how to report a stock option exercise a few years ago, but they have added instructions for this in recent years.
An IRS update conflicted with your software’s questions. My return was rejected. It was a nightmare to get through your levels of “assistance” (who really know nothing about your product or USA taxes) to finally get someone who knew your product well enough to solve the problem.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The H&R Block product was still usable on Windows 8 and was usable by this blind person and my screen readers. This is not true with Turbo Tax, I wasted my money on TT two years in a row, to find my screen readers were incapable of completing many areas of the interview, making it useless for me. H&R Block has it's deficiencies in this area, like many of the buttons do not have an accurate description for them, but the "Next, Back, Skip" buttons are laveled that, so moving from screen to screen works fine. I would like to tab through the screens that have multi choice check boxes, but rather than announcing what the check box is for, the screen readers announce a number associated with that check box, which is meaningless for the blind or for anyone, but at least a sighted person can see what the box is for, instead I have to try and use my mouse over the text that is with the box to determine if I need to check it or not, this is far from ideal and has been this way since 2016. But again it is at least functional and I have successfully completed my taxes each year since then. I find the worst part is actually filing and saving copies, this process is so confusing, at least for a blind person and takes as much time to complete as the form completionprocess itself.
I use it every year now for over a decade. Can easily find the answers to my questions when I’m preparing it. Also keeps me on track to finalize not too soon or if errors need corrected
No explanation received from IRS as to why the refund amount did not match the H & R Block program.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents
