I have stuck with Taxcut over the years because it is user friendly, gives me tax savings, and reliable. They will stand behind me if audited which is a great feature, but they have kept me from being audited all these years which is another reason I use Taxcut. Why change with this many positives.

The amount for pensions and annuities, line 5A, has not been getting filled. The 5B line showing the taxable amount (same amount as 5A for us last year) is filled and allows for the correct computation of our tax liability. But, this year the IRS held up our refund for over 2 months because of the line 5A omission. I had to mail in my income statements (I hand carried it to the P.O. and paid to track it) and wait several more weeks for my refund. If I’m doing something wrong while entering my information I’d like to know. I will check for this next year before sending it.

This form went from easy years ago to harder requiring additional tax knowledge. I had several doubts and questions on how to answer some questions.attempts to improve have backfired and requires more thought for the taxpayer.
Cons: Hard to prepare

I've consistently used Block for years...I just can't remember how many.
The "prompts" are easy to understand and answer. The "questions" section does a good job of clarifying the 1040's demands. The error checker finds and calls your attention to items that might draw attention to your return. The only problem I had this year was the inability to enter my taxes electronically. No matter how many times I tried it was rejected. The same form mailed in was accepted, but at a cost of preparing the paper copy and mailing.
